The Fall ’09 Lela Rose RTW collection is inspired by the notion of an enchanted forest and all its magical creatures. A kaleidoscope of colors that includes punchy magenta and bold chartreuse brings to mind the vivid hues of a butterfly or the petals of a wildflower. Lela’s signature use of layering and mixing various textures is employed as a play on the idea of an insect’s exoskeleton. The Fall 09 Lela Rose for Payless collection is Lela’s 9th footwear collection for Payless and the designs shown on the runway today will be available in select Payless stores and on Payless.com in September 2009.
Lela’s runway show also featured the Diana, from the Unforgettable Moments™ by Lela Rose collection. This line of dyeable footwear features a myriad of Lela-designed styles that are dyeable in 64 colors hand-picked by the designer. Styles will also be refreshed seasonally. Newell, also a shoe-bootie design, features horizontal thin suede straps on either side of the shoe that are finished off with black piping trim. An oversize black suede bow brings both sides of the shoe together at the front of the ankle. Newell is shown today in black wool with black suede trim, taupe wool with black suede trim, and olive wool with tonal olive suede trim.

Mallory is part shoe, part bootie with a round-toe and black stacked heel. Mallory features a short cuff detail and a large round cut-out vamp tied with a tassel that brings both sides of the upper together at the front of the ankle. The Mallory is seen in cobalt suede, olive suede, mallard green boucle, and charcoal suede.
Everett is the epitome of Lela’s classic-with-a-twist style. A round-toe pump, Everett combines a textural fabric upper with a black stacked heel. The style was shown in a black and white geometric pattern, a multi-color tweed, and a mallard green boucle.
Halsey is a tonal peep-toe pump featuring a satin covered upper and heel. The simple toe-cap detail is complemented by flirty satin pleating detail on the side of the shoe. Halsey is featured in charcoal grey and black satin.
Gilsan is a shoe-meets-bootie design with a black stacked heel and intricate strappy cut-out detail that create a “cagelike” appearance to the shoe-bootie’s upper. A classic tassel-tie brings both sides together at the front of the ankle. The style features a suede upper in five colors: charcoal, olive, berry, black, and cobalt.
Exeter is a round-toe pump with a suede ankle strap. Exeter features simple piping detail and is seen today in salt and pepper tweed with black suede trim, olive wool with tonal olive suede trim, and smoky purple suede with tonal smoky purple suede trim.
